It is said that around 30% of mines/ERW victims in Cambodia are children and women. Particularly the ERW accidents which happen to children always become serious cases since many of them are very young and ignorant about the danger of weapons. Often, once a child touches the object it suddenly explodes and blow their hands off. Moreover, they are thrown by the blast wave and often broken pieces of shrapnel get deeply lodged in several parts of their body. The victims in their growing age suffer from acute pains due to continued bone growth damage in areas around the wound.
